Chapter 49: Josh Soultz

Josh Soultz is part of the 2019 senior class at Pleasant Valley High School. He is graduating this year alongside his brother Nick Soultz and his sister Ashlee Soultz. The Soultz triplets were born premature in Iowa City and lived in Dubuque before moving to Bettendorf.

Soultz spends most of his time either with his girlfriend and family, working at Hyvee, or keeping his grades up in school. Soultz recalls his childhood and the memories he has made with his family. “At home, the environment I was raised in was a healthy relationship with my family. They’re kind and loving, and we all support each other,” he said.

Soultz spent his childhood playing baseball in the BPV baseball league and playing with his Lincoln Logs and his Stretchy Armstrong toys. His childhood passions have also influenced his current hobbies.

Soultz enjoys cars and is passionate about keeping his 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer well kept. He spends his extra time working towards learning more about cars, so he can fully learn how to fix cars on his own. He has been working on cars with his dad since a young age, and enjoys the skills and time needed to spend on keeping them clean.

“I like to help my dad because he appreciates the help even though he doesn’t ask. Plus I learn how to do stuff for my own car and save money,” Soultz added. He enjoys learning the concepts and parts that go into the technical workings of cars and other pieces of technology.

Carrying on his hobbies and passions for the future, Soultz is attending Iowa State University along with his brother, sister, and his girlfriend. Soultz is looking forward to continue his studies with people he loves around him. Soultz is planning on pursuing a career in either mechanical or electrical engineering.

“I’m excited to attend Iowa State with my siblings and my girlfriend, all who I care about very much. It is also an added bonus that I will be going into a field which I’ve had a passion for ever since I was little,” Soultz said.
