Chapter 4: Sarah Aikman

The chances of someone encountering a bright, caring, and motivated young girl in high school are rare. Sarah Aikman, senior, displays all the characteristics of a stellar student and person.

Aikman grew up in Oklahoma, where she spent some of her childhood. However, she is a Quad City native, and became the girl she is today at Pleasant Valley. She has been back and forth at Pleasant Valley six times. Aikman finds enjoyment in the art programs led by her favorite teacher, Mrs. Peters. “I participate in photography and ceramics club. I find so much enjoyment in these two activities,” states Aikman.

Along with art, she enjoys reading and writing books. So far this year, she has read 400 books. Her dream is to become a successful author or a free lance editor. Reading is not her only talent, she has been told by her peers that her artwork is one of a kind. Aikman’s drawings express her passion for nature and animals.

Her artistic capabilities not only excel in the art room, but socially too. “I always try to brighten other people’s day; it doesn’t happen to me very often,” Aikman claims. She wishes her connection with the Pleasant Valley students was more involved, but she has found friendships with Gabby and Izzy. Her life at this school is one to remember.

Aikman is a talented girl, and her aspirations to become something great will thrive throughout the rest of her education.
