Chapter 30: CJ Boone
Sophmore Christopher Boone, most commonly known as CJ, is all about positive vibes. He strives to live life to the fullest, making each day better than the last. Outside of school, he volunteers at local charities and is a host family for QC River Bandits baseball players during their season.
It is safe to say that Boone’s passion lies with the game of baseball. It’s his favorite sport because he likes that it challenges him both physically and mentally. This Summer, you can find him on the mound or at first base. Although his favorite MLB team is the Chicago Cubs, his favorite players are Bryce Harper from the Washington Nations and Carlos Correa from the Houston Astros. He admires their positivity while playing and the sportsmanship they portray towards other athletes. He aspires to play baseball at the collegiate level and with the help of Pleasant Valley head baseball coach Bill Sandry, it is possible. Sandry is one of his role models because he shows that he cares about his players.
To no surprise, Boone’s dream job is to be a sports commentator due to his love for sports as well as public speaking. The class he enjoys most is English with Mr. Gaffeny. He likes reading and writing and states that Gaffeny, “makes class fun and not typical because he has his own way of teaching.”
Boone is someone who looks at the bright side of things and despite the challenges that came with switching schools mid-way through his Freshman year, he looked at it as a learning experience. He knew that the jump from a smaller school to a much larger one was going to be difficult but was aware that it was for the better. He admits that transitioning to PV, “as a freshman was a hard challenge but looking back now as a Sophomore, I did good.”
