Chapter 13: Aditya Desai

Although Aditya Desai is only a freshman here at Pleasant Valley High School, he’s had no fear immersing himself in so many of the activities the school offers. His love for music and school has brought him to join both band and orchestra.

Aditya was introduced to music at a very young age. When he was only four years old he began to play the violin. He got his inspiration and motivation from his mother, who gave him his first violin. Aditya also plays the flute, and is a very active member in our school’s band.

In addition to music, Aditya has a big love for school work, specifically, mathematics. When he is not practicing instruments, he likes to work on math for the math team and participate in events for mock trial.

Out of the school, Aditya has a mom, dad, and two younger brothers. His family moved here when he was in seventh grade from Des Moines. He enjoys spending time with them as well as sharing his love for music with them.

Despite only being a freshmen here at PV, it is clear that Aditya has a bright future ahead. He said, “I’m pretty young and I do not have a clear idea of what I want to become, but I am very interested in a career in law.” There is no arguing the fact that Aditya Desai is one awesome student here at PV, and is worth getting to know.

Chapter 6: Brooke Goy

Chapter 6: Brooke Goy

It’s hard to go through major changes in life, and Brooke Goy has been through quite a few in the past few years. Brooke is fairly new to PV, having just moved here from Chicago in 7th grade. Brooke said that it was extremely hard to adjust here because she didn’t know anyone and she didn’t have any friends. “I acted differently than everyone else around here,” she said. “I opened up more here and I was shier in the city, but now I’m friends with a lot of people.”  Brooke also added the summer she moved, she was around her parents for a majority of the time before starting a new school year in a new district. Brooke has experienced another major change very recently as well, being that she is currently in her first semester of high school. “It’s better than eighth grade, but you just have to figure out what you have to do to do well.”

Brooke is very athletic and finds a lot of joy in sports. She has played basketball, track, and soccer, and she plans on being a part of the soccer team this Spring, a sport she has been playing since fifth grade. She also loves to lift, saying that weightlifting was one of her favorite classes. Her enjoyment of sports has also influenced what she dreams of doing, which is being a physical therapist. Brooke described her love of sports and desire to help people is what makes physical therapy a dream of hers.

Brooke is just who she seems to be when you first meet her: kind, compassionate, and a social butterfly. Being with her friends and talking to people are what make her happy, and her desire to make other people happy is her prime motivator in life. Brooke is a perfect example of the qualities that Pleasant Valley embodies, and her strong desire to achieve her dreams, as well as her outgoing personality, will take her far in high school and beyond.
