Lauren Carroll, choir member and senior at PVHS, has been selected as the artist of the week. Lauren has participated in choir for seven years. Carroll has been selected because of her true passion for singing and the love she has for her fellow choir members. Meg Byrne, choir director at PVHS, claimed, “Lauren is a great leader in our chamber choir.” Keep up the good work, Lauren.
Q: How did you get involved in choir, and when did you start?
A: I started in 6th grade. I got involved because my voice teacher was Kathryn Lyon and she also is the director or the 6th grade choir.
Q: What’s your favorite part of being in choir?
A: Probably meeting new people and singing challenging songs. I like to be around others who want to learn about choir.
Q: What’s your favorite choir memory?
A: Probably going on the New York trip and having an All-State solo twice.
Q: Did you make a lot of friends through joining?
A: Yes! Some of my closest friends came from choir.
Q: What kind of songs do you sing?
A: We sing a lot of classical literature and All-State literature. We also do Christmas songs in the wintertime which I really enjoy.
Q: What type of vocalist are you?
A: I’m a soprano 1. That is the highest level.
Q: Why do you enjoy singing classical music?
A: It’s very emotional, and I get the opportunity to touch people. I truly enjoy anything I sing.
Q: What is your favorite type of music to sing?
A: I enjoy singing musical theatre or classical solo pieces.
Q: Do you plan on pursuing your singing career after you graduate?
A: I haven’t picked a school yet because there are so many I want to go to, but I do plan on getting my Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) with an emphasis on music.
