This season is usually associated with Spring and warm weather. Going to track meets, soccer games, tennis, golf, the spring show or concerts. But it is also award season: with senior award banquets, the wall of honor and the academic awards. Not only are awards given throughout the school but other state-run organizations, and the most recent award winner from Pleasant Valley is none other than Athletic Director D’Anne Kroemer. Kroemer received the Administrator of the Year Award from the Iowa Girls Coaching Association (IGCA).
A two-time NCAA Division II All-American in golf, Kroemer has coached golf at the collegiate level and also worked as a middle school teacher, coach and administrator. Kroemer is used to success at every level, so after much success as an athlete and coach, she decided that she wanted to make even more of an impact as an administrator. Through this position, Kroemer is able to play a role in more programs and the lives of many coaches and students.
“I want to give back to a profession that’s given so much to me. And I’ve gotten as much out of it as I’ve put in,” Kroemer said. ”Across the country, there are many talented athletic administrators running great programs, and by serving at the state and national levels, I get to see what’s working for them. I’ve often come back from meetings with fantastic ideas to incorporate into our program.”
The Iowa Girls Coaches Association awarded the Administrator of the Year to Kroemer. The IGCA is made of the coaches of girls sports in the state of Iowa. This award is given to administrators that go above and beyond for their students.
Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union executive director Jean Berger spoke highly of Kroemer and mentioned, “The IGCA’s recognition of D’Anne Kroemer as Administrator of the Year is well deserved and so very appropriate. She is a strong advocate for her athletes, coaches and school; and her willingness to always go above and beyond make her the ideal recipient for this recognition”
This time of the year is surely one that makes the district and community proud, and this just adds on to the schools’ accolades. Congratulations to Mrs. Kroemer and all the work she does for this district.
