At one point or another, the search to find a location for your senior pictures must begin. This process can definitely be a struggle. Maybe you don’t even know where to look. Maybe you’re not sure what kind of look you’re going for. If you can relate, these suggestions for places near you might just make the process easier.
Nature Settings:
Crow Creek Park
Crow Creek Park has some fantastic scenic backgrounds perfect for any kind of shot. Several trees encompass the park as well as a beautiful quarry, limestone trails, and a gazebo near the dog park. This park is great for sports as it contains several softball and baseball fields, soccer fields, and a deck hockey arena. A cross country course also runs through the park if you’re a runner who’s looking to find a place for some cool action shots. These hidden treasures make for a fantastic senior photoshoot. Now would be a great time to go due to the changing colors and falling leaves.
Devils Glen Rd, Bettendorf, IA 52722
Vander Veer Botanical Park
This beautiful park is home to many trees and gardens that trace back to the 1880s. You can find a conservatory as well as a magnificent stone fountain within the park. These sites call for some great shots. Maps can be found in the park store if you want to have an organized session and hit all the right spots for your pictures. This vibrant park has beautiful flowers that brighten up the park even more. Vander Veer is calling your name!
215 W Central Park Ave, Davenport, IA 52803
Duck Creek Stampe Lilac Garden
Could it get any more beautiful than a garden of lilacs? This sweet-smelling, magical garden can be found in Duck Creek Park in Davenport. It is known for having the greatest amount of lilacs in the Quad Cities. If you’re searching for a nature setting but don’t want to be too “typical” in your choosings, Stampe Lilac Garden is definitely the fit for you.
3300 E Locust St, Davenport, IA 52803
Scott County Park
This park spreads over 1,000 acres of land and has trails upon trails to hike through. Therefore, you’re bound to find some pretty neat places deep within the trees to take your pictures. Kelsey Clarke, senior, travelled here to take her pictures and fell in love with its beauty. “I liked Scott County Park because it shows how pretty Iowa can be,” mentions Clarke. Scott County Park also sits along the Wapsi River where you can take some shots. This big park in a little town is a beautiful place to consider for your senior pictures.
18850 270th Street, Eldridge, IA 52748
Urban Settings:
Modern Woodman Park
Modern Woodman Park is the way to get a variety of urban shots all within the same area. Pictures along the river are beautiful themselves, but while you’re at it you can walk down by the gorgeous Centennial or I-74 bridge. Both have different looks, so pick one that fits your style best. This gives the picture a great urban feel while incorporating the bridge as a symbol of your hometown.
209 S Gaines St, Davenport, IA 52802
Downtown Davenport
Downtown Davenport has a variety of options to incorporate unique ideas into your pictures. Go down to the train tracks that run along the beautiful Mississippi. Get some shots up against the many brick buildings. Clarke also had her photos taken downtown and states, “I liked taking pictures downtown because the old, brick buildings look great with a simple outfit.” This means no more stress over planning your outfits; take the easy route.
Figge Art Museum
This classy building makes for a classy picture. Sunset would be a perfect time to drive down to the Figge and take some pictures up against the smooth, silver wall. If you want a more formal look, this is the place for you.
225 W 2nd St, Davenport, IA 52801
Village of East Davenport
If you want that rustic, antique feel to your senior pictures, the East Village of Davenport can accomplish this goal. Lagomarcino’s is an adorable building with an old-fashioned look to it. Lean up against this dainty, little building and you have an amazing shot. Lindsay Park can also be found in the village if you’re looking for a hint of nature as well. Anna Grace Molinari, senior, will be taking her pictures here shortly. “I want to take my pictures at the East Village because of the cute shops; it is hardly ever crowded, and it has a unique look unlike other places in the Quad Cities,” states Molinari.
