It is widely known that fine arts at Pleasant Valley High School have very strong programs. Students from all around the school rise and allow their talents to shine. One of those outstanding students is senior Annie Warner, and she has risen above the standard for many years.
Warner’s many accomplishments have come from her hours of hard work and love for music. Warner is actively involved in Pleasant Valley’s Chamber Choir and elite jazz choir, the Leading Tones. She has been in choir since her freshman year and is actively involved all around the arts departments.
Warner has also been in orchestra since the fourth grade and has flourished since. She now serves as the concertmaster for the Pleasant Valley High School Orchestra and is one of two PV violinists ever to be a four year All-State member. This means that for all four years of high school, she has auditioned and been selected to be a part of the All-State orchestra, which is a high honor to be selected for one year alone.
Pleasant Valley Orchestra director, Robert Swinney, has been teaching Warner in orchestra since the beginning of her violin endeavors. He said, “She’s always been a really strong student and brings a positive presence to the room. Annie is always eager to learn and happy to be in class.”
Additionally, Warner is involved with the local Youth Symphony Orchestra as the principal violinist. Being the concertmaster of this prestigious orchestra is a high honor, as it involves musically gifted students from all over the Quad Cities and all different schools.
Beyond just her impressive musical resume, Warner is widely loved among her peers both in and out of music classes. PVHS senior and All-State violist, Ruth Davidson is a long time friend of Warner’s. Davidson says, “Annie is a good leader in orchestra by helping others tune and lead the violin section. She is also a loyal friend and great listener. I have known Annie for 8 years and watching her grow into the wonderful person she is now has been so fun.”
Aside from the violin, Warner has also been playing piano for about 10 years. The piano is where she got her start in music and now teaches several students piano as well. She has had many piano accomplishments and occasionally fills in for the accompanists in various choir events. Warner’s wide variety of talents and accomplishments speak loudly, but her strong character and constant positivity speaks miles more to her as an individual.
