On Oct. 8, 2016 the Sparkle cheerleaders had an event of a lifetime. People Magazine interviewed and took pictures of the cheerleaders at the football game against North Scott High School. The girls were ecstatic to be a part of something so big and special.
According to Luke Peters, sophomore, “Watching the Sparkles perform is something everyone in the stands looks forward to. They show dedication and hard work during their performances. It makes me realize that anything is possible if I put my mind to it.”
The Sparkles practice two times per week for an hour. They are surrounded with constant support from their mentors and family. No one looks forward to Friday nights as much as these girls do. They practice their hardest to impress their fans at the football games.
Claire Park, senior captain of the Sparkles cheer team, shares, “When I explained to the girls at practice what was going to be happening at the upcoming game, the smiles and shrieks that filled the gym was unbelievable. They were all so excited that they were going to be a part of this amazing opportunity.”
Park was very grateful when she was told about this opportunity. She said she always wanted them to be shown off for their dedication and true happiness toward this sport, and now they will be. The People Magazine staff was very kind and generous with the way they spoke and helped the cheerleaders out.
The girls cheered their hearts out and made the stands cheer loudly for the Spartan football players. Make sure to watch as the Sparkles perform at all football and basketball games this year.
