Pleasant Valley senior Antonyo Bagley is known around school for his comedic ways and for being apart of Hatrick, one of the school’s five improv teams.
Bagley has been apart of the school’s improv team for three years. He first started improv as an hobby; however, as time went on, his love for improv only grew. Bagley never thought that improv would mean so much to him.
Hatrick, the improv team Bagley is apart of consists of him and two other members: senior Brenner Stickney and junior Matt Bolin. Together, they make up a great comedic trio.
Every fall and spring, the PV improv team hosts an improv night for the school. At this event, students and parents come watch improvers compete against one another. Hatrick, the team that Bagley is apart of, has the title of being a two time improv night champion.
Fellow teammate Bolin has loved being apart of the improv team with Bagley and he expressed how much Bagley will be missed once he graduates in May. “The thing I’m gonna miss most about Bagley is Bagley. He is such a fun person to work with and be around. There is always room for jokes, and it doesn’t matter what game or scene we are doing, but somehow he gets Brenner and I to break out in laughter,” said Bolin.
Bagley and his team have been apart of many competitions, but the wins and loses don’t seem to matter to Bagley in the end; he just loves being surrounded by his friends and doing what he loves: making other people laugh.
“I love to do improve because I get to be really funny and do crazy things to make people laugh,” said Bagley.
Besides being apart of the improv team, Bagley has been apart of the school’s competitive speech team. This past February, he participated in a speech competition where he earned a division I for the spontaneous speaking category.
In the fall, Bagley will be attending the University of Iowa to study business. He also hopes to continue improv and plans to find a team next fall.
When Bagley graduates PV in May, he will have left a legacy for any future improvers to come.
Bolin expresses his admiration towards Bagley and is going to be sad when he leaves. “He doesn’t have any fear, and he’s gonna be an unstoppable force in the future because of it. It sucks knowing that he and Brenner are leaving, but we have awesome moments of this year to look back on,” said Bolin.
