It looks like Iowa’s senior Senator will keep his seat for six more years. Chuck Grassley, who has served in the senate for 36 years, has opened a commanding lead over Democratic challenger Patty Judge; 18 points according to the latest Quinnipiac poll.
As new details from the FBI regarding Hillary Clinton’s email scandal were released last week, Donald Trump is slowly improving his position in national polls. A new poll out today from the Los Angeles Times puts Trump up four points over Clinton, but his lead remains inside the margin of error. The RealClearPolitics national polling average, which consolidates polls from a variety of sources, still puts Clinton up by two points with just eight days to go.
Although the race to win the popular vote is very close, Trump’s electoral college chances remain slim as states like Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina remain in contention. Favorability ratings for both candidates continue to sit below 50 percent.
