Racial tension seems to be a hot topic of conversation pretty much all the time because it is a topic that surrounds who we are every day. People will always feel discriminated, whether it be racially or not, but they will always speak out about it. Because they want things to be equal and most times there is a valid point to be made but others. It’s almost like racial discrimination is being used as an excuse.
At the University of Texas, the school told all of its students they could not dress up and cowboys and indians, as it was seen to be racially unjust. Have people become too touchy with racial anything? Yes, they have, because students should be allowed to dress up as a cowboy for example because it’s something they almost every little boy dressed up like or pretends to be, even if it’s not Halloween. Also with professional sports, the Atlanta Braves have a native american symbol as their logo and it was contested a few years back for racial discrimination, and still today some want it to be changed.
All in all, this shouldn’t be a problem. The past is the past we as Americans need to focus on the here and now. We need to focus on getting our time right and not focus too much on the past. I believe that as people we can find a way to bring racial peace to America. It needs to be done at some point. So why not now?
