All State is a State Championship for the music departments. All of the hard work and effort finally pays off when the beautiful voices of choir and glorious sounds of the band and orchestra mend together to create that final win. Students go through the process of learning multiple pieces of difficult music to then memorize and perform during an audition. Junior, Roshni Nair, states, “The All State process was very time consuming and long, but I think it was really worth it.” This audition is out of the entire state of Iowa full of talented musicians. After the re-calling, the final list is out and the names for Pleasant Valley go on and on.

Saturday, November 19 was full of practicing the pieces all together with musicians from all over Iowa. Finally, the different colored robes and sounds created Iowa’s 2016 All State. “I was unaware how big the festival really is. There were over 1000 students representing the top 2 percent of musicians in the nation,” says Nair. Pleasant Valley couldn’t be more proud to have this many Spartans among the mix.
