President-elect Donald J. Trump won the electoral college 290-232. The problem is, the popular vote was extremely close. Some polls have Clinton up by less than 1%; others have the candidates tied. Many on the left, those supporting Clinton and anti-Trump protesters, are seeking to abolish the electoral college, mainly because of the idea that a democratic election should be decided by the candidate most popular with the people. The secondary problem is both the electoral college and popular vote results are still being tallied, primarily in President-elect Trump’s favor. Yet, there are many who seek to abolish the electoral college AND persuade the electoral voters to switch to Clinton.
These anti-Trump rioters have taken it upon themselves to protest a democratic election. Yet according to Breitbart, a majority of protesters arrested in Portland did not actually vote in the election. These protesters use methods such as signs, chants, and sometimes assaulting police officers in order to fight the democratically elected P-E Trump.
These rioters also used signs, as according to Washington Post, saying ‘Rape Melania,’ Trump’s wife and soon-to-be First Lady. The protesters also, reported by Infowars, blocked an ambulance which resulted in the death of a father of a 4-year-old girl.
The moral of the story is that protesting a democratically elected candidate, who was elected with the same methods of the last 44 presidents, is folly at best. Disrupting the peace because your candidate did not win is not how democracy works. Keep in mind we are a federal republic; we vote for representatives who then make decisions for the people. If you do not like your leaders, you democratically impeach them.

This has been a crazy year. It’s kind of sad that new video games have been the highlights of this year.
