A spooky circus showed up in the Mississippi Valley Fairground from Nov. 14 through the 17 as part of a national tour.
Paranormal Cirque is a circus and horror show put on by Cirque Italia, a circus troupe based out of Bradenton, FL. The circus troupe was founded by Manuel Rebecchi, an Italian who emigrated to the US and realized his American dream was to create his own circus show.
Cirque Italia was first known for their Water Circus show, going all the way back to 2012, but more recently their Paranormal Cirque.
The Paranormal Cirque is described as “a crazy yet fun fusion between circus, theater, and cabaret.” It is an extremely unique experience, and an interactive one as well. The circus performers go into the audience and interact with and perform directly in front of them.
“I had never seen a show quite like it. The entire experience was extremely immersive from the moment you arrive at the show to when you leave.” said Jasper Florence.
The show is rated R and is not intended for all audiences. To be admitted alone, one must be over the age of 17, and those between the ages of 13 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult, though it is not recommended that children that young see the show.
The show features numerous different acrobatic acts, many different horror scenes and actors, and even a haunted house to get into the show.
“I loved seeing all the impressive stunts they performed,” said sophomore Jack Belby.
While the show has left the Quad Cities area, the Paranormal Cirque’s tour is still in Iowa. The circus is stopping in Coralville IA from the 21-24 of November, and Waterloo IA from the 28 Nov. to Dec.1st.
The Paranormal Cirque has not only one national tour happening right now, but three. The three tours of the Paranormal Cirque are covering all of the US, sharing this extremely unique experience with people from all over.
“I am so glad that such a cool event makes a stop on its tour in the Quad Cities,” said Florence.
The show does not permit any recording, so the only way to truly experience it is to see it in person.
