About the Contributors
Ashley Eddingfield, Copy Editor
Ashley Eddingfield is currently a copy editor for the Spartan Shield. Enrolled as a senior at Pleasant Valley High School, Ashley plans to attend the University of Virginia after graduating early. As an academically motivated student, she enjoys learning about chemistry and physics. She has participated in gymnastics, softball, theater, dance, and is always open to exploring new areas, although her favorite hobby is napping. Outside of school, she loves traveling, experiencing different cultures and appreciating scenery along the way.
Ishika Desai, Editor-in-Chief
Ishika Desai is a senior and is currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Spartan Shield! Aside from Honors Journalism, her favorite classes are AP Lit and Microbiology. Outside of journalism, Ishika is actively involved in the school through Spartan Assembly, Key Club, Astronomy Club, and Operation Smile. She is also heavily involved within the STEM community through robotics, the Iowa STEM Youth Ambassador Group, and the FIRST Iowa Student Leadership Board. Aside from working for the Shield, Ishika loves to go on long walks with her friends, to read a variety of books, or to go to coffee shops. Ishika is thrilled to work for the Shield this year!
Shaha Bhugra, News Editor
Shaha Bhugra is a senior at Pleasant Valley High School and currently assists the Spartan Shield as the News Editor. Post-high school, Shaha plans to double major in pure mathematics and physics at **REDACTED**, with the hopes of pursuing a career in physics research. As a dedicated Platonist, he will fiercely defend the existence of abstract objects (Math was discovered, not invented!). While at school, Shaha prefers to be jamming in AP French or AP Chemistry. On most days, he can be found participating in the Math Club, Science Bowl team, and/or Badminton Club (along with several others), many of which he helps lead. On his own time, he loves to play board games with his brother and sleep (9+ hours per night!). Shaha is looking forward to a great semester with the Shield!
