Recently, many students at high schools across the nation have started becoming invested in a new, quick way to make money, reselling. Reselling of clothes, shoes and streetwear has become rampant among high school students nationwide because of the easy money-making capabilities that reselling possesses.
What used to be a very under-the-radar scheme has now become a widespread high school phenomenon. With sites like StockX, Facebook Marketplace and Instagram Shop, high schoolers are buying and selling goods, making remarkable profits and learning how to become entrepreneurs while they are still in high school.
Junior Kamran Foad, an avid user of StockX, voiced his opinion on how StockX and apps of its kind help resellers. “When I started buying things from StockX, I realized how useful it can be to anyone trying to get useful items,” said Foad. “For resellers, apps like StockX are basically a paradise. You can find anything on them and resell it to make a profit.”
For resellers, it is necessary to access apps like StockX every day because new things are always being released, and there is always a chance for resellers to get the hottest new items. Whether it is rare shoes, streetwear or clothes, apps like StockX are a goldmine for people who are trying to make their own profit.
Other people also look at reselling from a different perspective. Senior Isaac Shepherd, founder of a small clothing business called “Kollision”, believes the rise of reselling among high school students is a testament to the fact that high schoolers are just looking to make a quick buck. “Reselling is a really cool concept, but there is a difference between your own original work and making a profit off of it and using others’ work and just making easy money off of it,” said Shepherd.
High schoolers have started to become increasingly interested in earning money at a young age, and reselling is a straightforward way for them to do so. From reselling, students also gain valuable skills such as marketing and communication skills, which will benefit them in any career path they choose to focus on in the future. Whether it be making money or learning valuable skills, reselling has become a very popular money-making method among teenagers and it will continue to grow as long as teenagers value making quick and easy money.
