The PV Band trip is a biennial trip, and members enjoy a great time with friends throughout the program.
Over this spring break, hundreds of students boarded Tri-State Travel buses to travel to Orlando, Florida, and visit Universal Studios. Shaurya Khurkejar, a PV junior, was excited to go. “I chose Universal because I knew it would be a good time. I thoroughly enjoyed the parks, and the bus ride was fun, too,” he said
Students vote on the destination of the trip. For the past two cycles, the band has chosen Universal Studios Orlando Resort. This time, however, they got the chance to explore a new park, Epic Universe.
Along with the parks, the band also spends time on the beach. On the third day after departure, the Tri-State buses took the band to Cocoa Beach and the nearby Ron Jon Surf Shop. Fifteen percent discount coupons were given to all trip members, providing extra savings.
Later at the beach, there was still plenty of fun to be had. A large hole, about the diameter of a twin-size bed, was dug. Using it, a PV junior, Kyle Carber, had his whole body submerged in sand, leaving just his head above the surface.
Beach day also featured a barbecue lunch, which satisfied both the appetites and spirits of many band members.
A bus ride took the band back to the hotel to freshen up before continuing their time at Universal. Many band members enjoyed rides such as the Incredible Hulk rollercoaster. Other attractions, such as the VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure, were also popular, with some band directors mentioning the Jimmy Fallon ride was a pleasant surprise.
The best thing about the band trip, according to Kremer, is “definitely getting to spend time having fun with my friends. I got to spend a lot of time with friends I don’t get to hang out with outside of school much.”
The band trip is a crucial part of band tradition and is even advertised to younger students pre-highschool. Kremer points out the importance it has on the culture. “It lets people bond and is something that’s enjoyable for everyone. I know people look forward to it every year and it’s something that’s just been a big part of the band experience at our school for a while.”
Ultimately, the band trip was a great experience for its members. From rides and impressive park design to beach activities and lasting memories, the trip proved to be an unforgettable experience for PV band students.
