Donald Trump, Republican presidential candidate, challenged Hillary Clinton, Democratic presidential candidate, on August 28th in releasing detailed medical records. Trump voiced this challenge over Twitter:
The former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, along with others on the right spectrum, claim finding these illnesses would be as simple as ‘Googling’ it, as quoted on CNN’s website. And as with much, these claims are debated between the media, credited and discredited on both the left and the right. Both Trump and Clinton physicians maintain that the candidates are in no such way ill or frail. However, Dr. Ben Carson, former presidential candidate and former neurosurgeon, urged the candidates to release their records according to FoxNews.com, saying, “It’s not 8 hours a day, it’s 24/7 with constant stress. We need to know we have a leader who can withstand that.”
Numerous rumors surrounding Clinton’s health, made predominantly by Trump supporters, have many wondering if something such as medical records could dissuade or reinforce millennial and student voters. As the Presidency of the United States is a tasking position, the sheer stress that comes from this lifestyle should make many wonder if these candidates are fit for office.
