The wonder of candy corn

Imagine. Halloween night, you’re age 9 in your favorite costume going around your neighborhood trick or treating. As you approach the last house of the night, you see candy corn in the bowl out front. Does your heart sink or soar?

In the debate surrounding candy corn a number of things must be considered: is it a Halloween candy? what makes it good or bad? and how the heck anyone could not like candy corn? The fact of the matter is that candy is by far the paramount candy when it comes to Halloween. As candy canes are to Christmas, puffs are to Easter, candy corn is to Halloween. Nothing else can claim the title of the quintessential Halloween candy because none of the other candies are specific to Halloween. One can buy Snickers, M&M’s, and Milky Ways throughout the entire year; however, only for a few weeks can one enjoy the wonder of candy corn.

In addition, candy corn has been designed to be the optimal Halloween candy. Its color scheme resembles that of autumn and the falling leaves, and its size makes it easy to put into tiny bags to give to kids. Candy corn also holds immeasurable potential when it comes to combinations. Have you ever tried candy corn with peanuts and chocolate? I would earnestly encourage you not to, for the last time I had that wonderful trio I binged so much I ended up in the hospital. The only other treat that can be combined with such effectiveness as candy corn is M&Ms and we all know those are nothing more than just chocolate, a lazy man’s treat.

In trying to fully explain my love for candy corn I decided a tune would best describe it

The one thing I wait all year for

To walk up to your door

Look into the bowl and see it

Candy corn!

Candy corn oh Candy Corn

You make my heart soar

Candy corn oh candy corn

Too much makes my tummy sore

Let me make a shrine, to this oh so divine, tingle in my spine

Candy corn

One, just the beginning

Two, ill stop real soon

Three, it’s got me now

Four, pass me some more

Five,

Six

Seven

Eight, oh wait! It’s all gone

Lets run to the store and grab some more. Candy Corn!

*It must be noted candy corn includes all derivatives of it such as candy pumpkins and chocolate candy corn.
