The second performance of the band’s season was Fed. 5 2018. The concert was a great success showing off each bands amazing improvements from the first concert around Christmas. This concert is showing how each band is preparing for the senior concert coming up this spring.
Due to the immense size of the Pleasant Valley Band the concert was split into two. The Concert Band conducted by Tara Daurer and Wind Ensemble conducted by Rob Medd took the stage for the first concert. Following their wonderful performance came the Symphonic band conducted by Brian Gartner and the Wind Symphony conducted by Drew Anderson. Callum Revell a senior said, “Everyone did really well this concert putting out the best music we could.”
Not just the band played this concert though. The Wind Symphony was accompanied by Dr. Elizabeth Matera. Matera was a part of the President’s Marine band for 27 years. “I have played for five presidents,” said Matera. With her amazing skills on the clarinet and the help of the Wind Symphony they put together a song that lasted 12 minutes.
This was a huge issue for some parents. Brandi Ahlers and audience member said, “I came to watch my son play not some lady I don’t know.” This seemed to be the case with a lot of parent of Wind Symphony members. Even with this small complaint everyone still loved the concert, and will be there for concerts to come.
Overall, the concerts went well and showed of all of the band’s strengths and weaknesses. They will all be getting prepared for the seniors last band concert coming up this spring. Make sure not to miss another amazing band concert put on by the Pleasant Valley Bands.
