Pumpkin has been a classic fall flavor ever since anyone could remember. Pumpkin lattes, cookies, cereal, ice cream, and so many other unimaginable things! Around the Quad Cities, there are a countless number of places where everyone can enjoy the fall pumpkin tradition.

To find these pumpkin treats, students do not have to go looking very far! All of these  products can be found in almost any local grocery store including Hyvee or Target.

For anyone looking for a healthier twist on Whitey’s famous pumpkin ice cream, Halo Top has a Pumpkin Pie flavored light ice cream that tastes exactly like the classic pumpkin pie but much better for you. The seasonal, limited edition Pumpkin Spice RXBar is another healthier option that includes the pumpkin pie flavor. Senior Emily Johnson says, “Fresh pumpkin ice cream is one of my favorites and I could not ask for anything more to put me in the spirit of fall!”

RXBars are a minimal ingredient protein bar that completely encompasses the fall taste. At our local grocery stores, students are also able to find the classic Cheerios company participating in the fall pumpkin fever by selling Pumpkin Spice Cheerios! The Cheerios are especially delicious paired with almond milk for breakfast.

To embrace the full pumpkin spice spirit, students can eat a pumpkin spice bagel, which could be purchased at Bruegger’s or Hyvee, with the classic Philadelphia pumpkin cream cheese. This combination would only be recommended for pumpkin spice finatics because of all the flavor it contains.

Another fall favorite that may require more work than just purchasing products at the grocery store are famous homemade pumpkin cookies! Even PV Senior Sheridan Culp who is no pumpkin spice lover herself, loves to try new thing and says, “Homemade pumpkin cookies are one of her absolute favorites.” Although each individual may have their very own recipe, with a little bit of pumpkin spice in each cookie, can be just as delicious.

Next time there is a craving for something pumpkin be sure to stop by a grocery store to get your best fall treats of the season!
