About the Contributors
Morgan McCartney, Business Manager
Morgan McCartney loves music and dance. She has been dancing at Above the Barre Dance Academy since she was only 3 years old, and she is currently a member of PV’s very own Platinum Varsity dance team. She loves dancing because, “it’s a way to express [her] emotions.” She is also in PV’s Chamber choir and plays the clarinet in the Spartan band. While all of these activities keep her pretty busy, in her free time, she spends time with her family and friends. After high school, Morgan plans to go to UW-Madison or Iowa State, majoring in business. She will be practicing her business skills in the role of Business Manager for the Spartan Shield.
Maria Vaaler, Student Life Editor
Maria Vaaler is a senior at Pleasant Valley High School and has spent the last three years enjoying numerous activities. She is a member of the PV DrumLine, in which she plays the tenor drum, and involved in the Model UN club. She also participates in weight lifting and track. On top of these activities, she is a very driven student and plans to attend the Naval Academy, with a focus in the health field, or the ROTC. Before moving back to the U.S, Maria lived in Russia and Finland along with her Mom, Dad, and sister Emma. She is excited to start her senior year and is looking forward to being the student life editor of the online Spartan Shield.
