As we come near the holidays, Pleasant Valley Choirs will make sure you are in the mood for Christmas. Chamber choir starts their holiday music at the end of October, having plenty of time to perfect the songs. Recently Chamber Choir did a recording for KWQC singing The Christmas Song and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. This recording involved all 52 students harmonizing together to send a lovely message of Christmas to viewers in December when the recording will be shown.
Along with this recording, Chamber Choir does another showing of their musical ability at Festival of Trees. Singing songs such as Silent Night, Deck the Hall, White Christmas, Carol of the Bells, and many more. At Festival of Trees, artists around the Quad Cities display their art and talent. But to go along with that, there are christmas treats, a gingerbread house making contest, and wreath decorating.
In the center of it all is a big stage where multiple different groups come to display their love for the holidays. Here is where Pleasant Valley can show off their talent to all family and friends that come to watch. The 52 membered choir sings their pieces and other students are welcome to sing a solo or duet. Senior in Chamber Choir, Hannah Sturtzer, states, “It’s super cool because you get to sing a whole bunch of music and have fun doing it.”
Festival of Trees isn’t the only caroling event Chamber Choir attends. During the month of December the choir will split up and visit different places such as, nursing homes, churches and schools, to sing. Sturtzer says, “It’s very rewarding because our audiences are always so appreciative of singing for them.” Being able to spread their talent around the Quad Cities is what Chamber Choir loves to do.
At the end of it all, Pleasant Valley hosts a holiday concert consisting of groups such as Pleasant Singers, Concert Choir, Women’s Ensemble and Chamber Choir. This concert finally brings all the groups and pieces together to send everyone on their way to Christmas break.
