Set to release on Dec. 17, the third movie in the Marvel Cinema Universe’s (MCU) Spider-Man series easily takes the title for the most awaited superhero film of all time.
Starring Tom Holland as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” takes place right after the cliffhanger at the end of the second movie in the series, “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” Parker gets his identity as Spider-Man revealed to the whole world and gets framed as a murderer at the end of the second installment.
“No Way Home” follows Parker on his journey after his identity has been compromised. Eventually, he gets help from Doctor Strange and, as Strange tries to make the world forget Spider-Man’s identity, they accidentally unleash the multiverse.
This is where the hype begins.
The multiverse means fans can see the different live action Spider-Men from different series come together.
Tobey Maguire suited up as Spider-Man in the early 2000s in the Sam Raimi trilogy. “Spider-Man” was a hit among critics and audiences, and “Spider-Man 2” is considered one of the best superhero films by many. “Spider-Man 3” was met with mixed responses but gained a following as a meme movie. Many fans consider this trilogy to be the best Spider-Man film series to date. Maguire holds a steady cult following even around 15 years after the series ended.
Andrew Garfield portrayed the superhero in the early 2010s in the “Amazing Spider-Man” movies directed by Marc Webb. “The Amazing Spider-Man” got good reviews, but “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” on the other hand, had generally negative reviews. These movies might have faced mixed critical response, but fans loved Garfiled’s portrayal of Spider-Man.
Fans are eager to see Holland, Maguire and Garfield suit up as Spider-Man together.
While Maguire and Garfield are denying that they are appearing in the movie, the movie’s trailers say otherwise.
The teaser trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” garnered 355.5 million views and smashed the record for the most viewed trailer in 24 hours after beating the record held by the teaser trailer for “Avengers: Endgame” for 289 million views in 24 hours. This shows how excited people are for the release of this movie.
The trailers featured Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Thomas Hayden Church’s Sandman and Rhys Ifans’s Lizard. The specialty of these actors playing these roles is they already portrayed the characters in a previous Spider-Man series. Molina’s, Foxx’s and Church’s characters were villains in the Sam Raimi trilogy. On the other hand, Ifans’s and Foxx’s characters were villains in the Webb duology.
These characters’ appearances in the trailer has fans hoping to see the three different Spider-Men meet.
Senior Mitchell Wood has been a Spider-Man fan since childhood and is eagerly waiting to see “No Way Home.” “I’ve been a Spider-Man fan for as long as I can remember. I’ve read the comics, I’ve seen the shows, and I’ve seen all the movies, but I think ‘No Way Home’ will be the ultimate Spider-Man experience. After the trailers, I’m hoping to see my favorite Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, and, also, Andrew Garfield,” Wood shared.
Some people do not care if the other Spider-Men are appearing, they just want to watch the movie.
Junior Tejus Kanathur is a Marvel fan and is awaiting the release of “No Way Home.” “I honestly don’t care if Tobey and Andrew show up in the movie. It would be cool if they do but it also be cool if they don’t. I just want to see how Tom Holland gets out the mess that he created,” Kanathur expressed.
Only the movie’s release on Dec. 17 will answer the questions of the three Spider-Men and relieve the hype around the movie.
