2017 marks an important year for Pleasant Valley seniors: saying goodbye to high school and beginning the rest of their lives, whether that’s college, a job, or taking a break. Whichever journey students take, the next 143 days (from Jan. 5 until graduation) are filled with tasks, both required and optional, to complete before walking across the stage on May 28. Here are some things for seniors to keep in mind as May nears closer:
Seniors who have folders full of professional pictures sitting around for Senior Sunday Instagram posts need to have their preferred picture turned in for the yearbook by March 3. In order to submit the picture, go online to images.jostens.com and enter the login ID: 406113607. Click on “Select My Images” to browse for the photo wished to be uploaded. Then enter the contact information in case the company needs to contact you. Finally, click “Upload Chosen Images” and it’s completed.
In addition to the submitted picture to take place of a standard school picture, vanity ads are available for purchase if senior parents want to feature their child on their high school accomplishments. Pictures from the senior’s childhood and a personalized message from their family will complete the ad in the yearbook. There is limited space, so the ads are only available until the pages are full.
For those attending college in the fall, applying for scholarships is a very important task. Even if college acceptance letters haven’t come in yet, there are many through PV that can be applied for now. Visit the counseling office for more information on scholarships, whether it be for one through PV or on how to apply for one at a future college.
Those who haven’t completed their forty hours of service learning are on a time crunch. If twenty hours are not turned in by the end of first semester, that senior will not be able to attend school dances, participate in extracurriculars, or receive a parking pass.
Keep an eye out for Jostens in the announcements because the cap and gowns ordered back in October will be arriving in the next few months, and it’s a necessity to walk across the stage.
