College Board announced that it will be transitioning its SAT and PSAT to a digital format. Now students are required to take the SAT/PSAT on the Bluebook app on their laptop. Due to this change, the format of the questions has been completely altered. To score well on the SAT and PSAT, students need to practice with questions that are similar to the ones in the new digital format. Here is a list of the top five best study resources to prepare for this.
- CollegeBoard Practice nonadaptive and adaptive tests
-
- This is the first time the College Board made the new digital format transition, so no one has taken the digital exam officially before. For students, educators, and colleges to get a better understanding of this new test, the College Board released four nonadaptive and four adaptive tests. All these tests are available for free on their website and Bluebook app. College Board provided the solutions for every question on all of these tests, making this a great way for students to experience the format of this test before test day.
- 2. Khan Academy digital SAT prep
-
- Khan Academy has always been a great place to get extra help and practice with subjects outside of school. Not only does Khan Academy help with school, but its affiliation with the College Board gives free, official prep materials to use for the new format. “Official” as in, the questions are written by the same people who work on the questions for the actual exams. These questions are great practice since they are similar to the questions on the exam. Along with the practice questions, Khan Academy provides in-depth explanations for each question and has detailed videos and guides of the content being tested for both Math and English.
- Vibrant Publishers free question of the day
- For the people who are more laid back and don’t have too much time to study for the new digital format, Vibrant Publishers free question of the day is a great way for brief, consistent practice. The free question of the day can be accessed through this link. After going to their website through the link, a pop-up will ask for a name and email. After signing up, they will email the invite link to the WhatsApp group. They post a new math or english question every day, with the answer as well. A question takes less than 2-3 minutes per day.
- Prep Books
-
- Companies like Kaplan, The Princeton Review, and Barrons are great study resources for additional help and practice for these new SAT formats. Although these resources are not associated with Collegeboard in any way, the people who make these questions are experts and try to recreate the questions to be as similar as possible.
- PDF Websites
-
- Utilizing websites such as Oceanpdf, students can gain pdfs of prep books for standardized exams such as the new SAT. Not only do these websites provide resources for the SAT, but users can search anything in any topic, and they should be given access to anything in their database.
