Iowa has a lot of fun outdoor places to offer. Many places to visit with friends and families.

1. Ledges State Park

Ledges State Park is a Park in Boone County, Ia. It has a 4 mile hiking trail. There is a newly renovated campsite with restrooms, showers, a trailer dump station and playground. Peas Creek is perfect for families who like to streamwalk, since the water level is shallow.

2. Maquoketa Caves State Park

Maquoketa Caves State Park is a park located in Jackson County, Ia. There are 13 beautiful caves to explore. It’s also a great destination for hiking and picnicking, complete with a campground and hiker shelters.

3. Dunning’s Spring Park

Dunning’s Spring Park is a park in Decorah, Ia. There is a beautiful 200 ft waterfall surrounded by scenic limestone cliffs. It has trails and spots for picnicking. It has a beautiful bridge crafted with local stone.

4. Wildcat Den State Park

Wildcat Den State Park is a park in Muscatine County, Ia. It is one of the most photographed state parks in Iowa, making it the perfect place to spend quality time outdoors. Wildcat Den Trail is 4.2 miles long with an elevation gain of 501 ft. Wildcat Den State Park also has plenty of picnic areas, playgrounds, and grills.

Sunayana Khadka is a senior at Pleasant Valley High School and serves as a Photo Manager for the Spartan Shields. She enjoys taking classes like AP 3-D Art, Photography, Psychology and Principles Biomedical Science. Sunayana enjoys traveling with her family, hanging out with friends, baking, and going on walks. Even though her favorite season is summer, she enjoys doing fall activities. She is excited to be a part of Spartan Shields.
