Winter sports are a very fun activity to do, but there are so many ski areas to choose from. Here is the list of the top 5 ski resorts.
- 5 – Snow Star
Snow star is extremely local, making it a great place for those living in the Quad Cities. It does lack some of the terrain that some of these other places have, making it not as appealing. It is still a great option for staying local.
- 4 – Sundown
Sundown is also very local, just like Snow Star, but it has a little more to offer. It has longer runs and more variety in the terrain it shares, but it is nothing close to the rest of the ski areas on this list.
- 3 – Snow River
Snow River is a hidden gem in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They have unmatched moguls and after a snowfall there are powder stashes for many days following.
- 2 – Lutsen
Lutsen is a ski resort that was recently bought by the owner of Granite Peak. It has many of the same features as Granite peak, but unfortunately it is an eight hour drive from the Quad Cities, making it difficult to visit.
- 1 – Granite Peak
Granite Peak is by far the best ski area in the Midwest. Being only a 5 hour drive from the Quad Cities, it is feasible to visit. They have terrain that suits any style of riding, from trees, to moguls, to terrain parks and much more. They have four different high speed lifts, over 500 feet of elevation change, and are located in a nice town.
