6. Barbie in a Blender Day
This holiday is not what the name might suggest. In fact, it is not celebrating barbies at all. Instead, it is a holiday celebrating freedom of expression in art and culture. The day got its name from a photographer who photographed Barbie dolls because of the unrealistic beauty perpetuated by the doll, ultimately leading to Mattel lawsuits. However, the expression was free from censorship and more creators are encouraged to express their creative freedom. Commemorate this day by making art on July 27th!
