Having a major U.S. city so near is an opportunity that should be taken advantage of. Chicago is only around 3 hours away. Within Chicago there are limitless activities to do. Some examples of fun experiences include the Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and more. Not to mention delicious food and amazing sight seeing.
Art museums are a great way to gain inspiration and understanding about the wider world. Artists choose to create art that will help people to feel emotion and learn. As of March 8, there will be a new exhibit entitled, Cara and Diego Romero: Tales of Future Past.
Farmers markets are a great way to pass the time. There is nothing quite like hanging out with friends or family and walking around. Whether you are enjoying new purchases or gathering inspiration for creations of your own, farmer’s markets are fun. They are also a great way to support local businesses. The Freight House Farmers Market is open from 8am to 2 pm on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
- Quad City Botanical Center
Botanical Centers are a perfect beginning of spring activity. There are many benefits to spending time around plants and living things. Experience the fresh foliage of the Botanical Center will help you get excited for the return of plants that come with later spring. - Go bowling
What is most underappreciated about bowling is that you don’t have to be skilled in any way to enjoy the game. Getting a group together to go bowling is a fantastic way to pass the time. The game is slow paced so you can enjoy food while laughing, talking and appreciating each other’s company. Groups can range in size from just a few to a dozen. Whether your score is 50 or 100 by the end, you are sure to have made lasting memories. This is a very affordable option with many locations available including TBK Sports Complex and QC Family Entertainment.
While this is a smaller museum, it is the main museum option of the Quad Cities. When visiting as a kid, it is full of fun activities and interesting exhibits. However, a lot of things change as you get older. If you haven’t been there in a while, take a trip back. It will bring back memories and allow you to explore new featured exhibits.
