With a discography as expansive as Taylor Swift’s, there’s bound to be a few flops. Here are her top five:
1. ME!
This song not only has a wild range that can be hard to match, but the message also just isn’t very meaningful. “I promise that you’ll never find another like me” and other cringy lyrics, bring the quality of the song down significantly and the repetition and redundancy cause the song to get old after one listen.
2. You Need to Calm Down
Unfortunately this song was ruined from being played in excess when it first came out. Although the message is good, the song itself is kind of annoying and after hearing it on the radio so much, it starts to lose its meaning.
3. Stay Stay Stay
Meant to be more playful, this song ends up feeling very childish. As the name suggests, it is incredibly repetitive and boring. The quality of her voice is also significantly worse as she tries to sound more childish.
4. Look What You Made Me Do
This song isn’t too bad honestly, there’s just an unnecessary amount of repetition that again, gets annoying. There are also a few lines that don’t really make sense to the average listener “I got a list of names and yours is in red, underlined. I check it once, then I check it twice.”
5. Shake it Off
This is one of Taylor’s most popular songs and is pretty catchy and has a good message but is greatly overrated when compared to some of her other songs. When people think of Taylor Swift, many think of this song, and while it’s not bad, it doesn’t best reflect her abilities as an artist.
