- Jersey Devil
The Jersey Devil is allegedly a deer-like flight-bound creature with bat wings and an incredibly loud scream. The local legend is that an individual named Mrs. Leeds was so surprised that she was expecting for a thirteenth time that she screamed something along the lines of, “Let it be the devil!” Then, surprise surprise, it was born a demon that haunts New Jersey. There have been several sightings across centuries dating back to the 1700s from people of all classes, races and beliefs. It is almost always seen killing animals in some way, usually around the same time of year. It’s more than likely that this creature is real albeit, likely not as devilish as people tend to describe it.
- Shug Monkey
In Cambridgeshire before WW2, a strange monkey with a dog-like face was reported to be seen multiple times over the course of about two decades. The creature never attacked anybody but was known to scream incredibly loudly at anybody that approached. After WW2, the creature wasn’t reported for about half a century when it appeared again closer to modern times. This version seemed to be more of a bigfoot-like creature that stood on its hind legs and had the same scream. It’s plausible that this creature before WW2 actually existed and died sometime during the 1940s. This newer creature is likely nothing more than publicity stunts.
- Wendigo
A North American legend that has existed for centuries, the Wendigo are rumored to be the result of humans resorting to cannibalism and thus being cursed with eternal hunger and being driven mad from it. When the French were colonizing Quebec, there were multiple reported encounters with crazed creatures that feasted on human flesh. In the 19th and 20th centuries, many people were killed after consuming and feasting on family members when stranded during snow storms. The people were reportedly insane and had grown inhuman teeth and nails. This could be a real thing, but it seems to be a result of isolation and cannibalism impacting the mental state of decent individuals.
- Sasquatch
Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Skunk Ape, or whatever you want to call it is definitely a real thing and the government is hiding it for unknown ends. There have been multiple sightings over several centuries and across multiple continents. These elusive creatures can be found all over the world if you look closely enough. However, the governments of the world have decided to hide these beautiful organisms in order to meet their own goals. What these goals are is unknown as the sasquatch family could be government agents or fleeing capture. Nonetheless, be wary of them as they have been reported to attack travelers.
- Nessie
This creature has been photographed as real and people are still trying to say it’s fake. This friendly loch-dwelling creature has lived in Loch Ness for decades, maybe even centuries. It’s just minding its own business and trying to stay out of the limelight being the humble individual it is. This is the best cryptid of all time because of its iconic status and overall chill ambience.
