While PE offers a variety of activities for students, there are many that take the bottom tier in terms of engagement.
Anyone who has been in physical education knows that most P.E games can be a hit or miss depending on who’s in the same class, the rules and how challenging the game is. Here is a list of the top 9 worst P.E activities.
- Yoga: This P.E activity definitely takes first place for bottom P.E activities. It’s the go-to activity when someone wants to do the least physical activity. Not only is P.E.-based yoga one of the least stimulating activities, but it is also an activity that allows students to get away with not doing yoga itself.
- Just Dance: Just Dance is one of the activities that sounds kinda like a good idea, but when actually done, it’s not so fun. Similar to yoga, it’s one of the less stimulating activities. It’s an activity that only pertains to extroverted people who are willing to dance in public. This P.E game is only played because the other game was somehow worse.
- Stationary Biking: Students usually have to go on stationary bikes if they’re making up a missed P.E day. The five-mile requirement to get the P.E points is also more physically strenuous than most of the P.E games, making it feel like more effort is being exerted for the same amount of points, thus making this activity feel more like a punishment.
- Walk in Woods: The walk in woods can be either hit or miss, depending on who else is in the same class. Because it requires students to go outside regardless of the weather, it can be volatile in terms of likeability. It also takes the class pretty far away from the school, so getting back inside in time for the bell can be risky. It’s definitely not an activity for white and clean shoes.
- Archery: The most overrated P.E. activity of all time. It is always paired with yoga and Kickboxing, which many people find very boring, so it stands out as the most fun activity, but it’s not even the most fun of the three options. It is very monotonous and has nothing good going for it.
- Kickboxing: Kickboxing itself isn’t inherently boring, but the way it is executed in P.E makes it one of the most boring things people do in the class. The entire unit consists of punching and kicking the heavy/punching bag in the same four ways. Talking to others is always an option, which is the only thing saving it from not being a bottom 5 P.E. activity.
- Floor hockey: This game only appeals to the students who actually play hockey. Otherwise, this activity can be hard to enjoy as the players who play hockey competitively often take control of the game and can make it hard to participate. This game is highly dependent on who’s on the team and whether or not they’ll play with the team or just randomly slap-shot the ball.
- Disc Golf: Disc golf is a fun sport to play outside of school, but in P.E., it is completely different. There is no change in environment or unique obstacles to avoid, which are what make the game fun to play in the first place. A very extensive and boring video about how to play the game is required to be watched, which makes it very annoying as well.
- Volleyball: This is a hot take, but the volleyball unit is not as fun as it seems. Many people enjoy the volleyball unit, but that is just because it is surrounded by other bad activities like walking the track and doing Just Dance. Playing volleyball is decently fun, but the problem with the volleyball unit is that there are days of relearning basic tasks, such as serving the volleyball and passing it back and forth. These first few days ruined Volleyball and helped it make this list.
