Danielle Henricksen, senior at Pleasant Valley, has made many accomplishments in the sport of golf throughout her life. Her love for golfing started when she was little, due to it being a big part of her family. Starting with her grandpa, then her dad, and now her. Henricksen said, “My dad would take me out to the course and would teach me the fundamentals of golf.” However, she did not start competing until around her sophomore year of high school when she decided to join the team at PV.
When she goes on vacation during school breaks, more often than not she can be seen working on her swing with her dad. Also, she is always keeping up with scores during the Majors, John Deere Classic, and many other huge competitions. She has been lucky enough to experience the John Deere Classic too.
Through playing on the golf team, she has learned to really love the game and what comes with it. “The girls on the team are so much fun, whether we play well or not. We are always laughing and encouraging each other,” said Henricksen. Teammate and senior, Emily Bruinsma, said, “Danielle is a great golfer and teammate. She is always super sweet and supportive to everyone, no matter how new to the sport they are.
Henricksen is thankful for having such great golf coaches in her life to teach her everything from the fundamentals, to learning how to have the perfect swing. Both the retired coach Ron VenHorst and this year’s new coach Nikki Palmer, have all been helpful to depend on and ask advice from. “Through these coaches I have improved immensely since my first competitive meet,” said Henricksen.
Next year, Henricksen can be spotted continuing her education at Colorado Christian University. Along with her education she will be representing the Cougars by being a part of the University’s women’s golf team. Be sure to catch her out on the course!
