Frye Festival fraud

As the summer quickly approaches, people start to look forward to getting away and finally taking a break. This is exactly what some luxury vacationers had in mind when they signed up for the Frye Festival. The Frye Festival was promoted as a remote and private island in the Bahamas. It was advertised on Instagram, and was even promoted by celebrities like Kendall Jenner.

The organizer of the event was Ja Rule. The Festival’s cost ranged anywhere from a $450 day pass, the $250,000 Full VIP experience, but the average festival package was $12,000. Vacation-goers were promised luxury beach front rooms, popular music, and lavish meals.

However, what they really got was the exact opposite. One person reported that the rooms looked like, “FEMA tents.” Some of the tents were still left in their boxes unset up. Vacationers were running around frantically looking for explanations, while the staff were just as clueless as them. It was even branded as the next Coachella.

Ja Rule Apologized on Twitter, “I truly apologize as this is not my fault… but I am taking responsibility.”  He even went further and said, “I’m working to make it right by making sure everyone is refunded.”

Most vacationers did not even make it out of the airport in Miami after the festival was shut down following its first day. There has since been several lawsuits against Frye Organizers and as well as the festival’s PR agency, 42 west, and advertising company, Matte projects.

The Lawsuit said, “In reality, Fyre Festival was the opposite. The event fell woefully short of what was advertised in virtually every way.”
Overall, luxury vacationers had their chance at recreating Lord Of the Flies. Some people found it hard to find any pity in the luxury Bahamas vacation that went wrong.
