Walking into school this August, many students were left surprised and confused. They were used to entering through the main entrance, but they realized that wasn’t possible this year. Construction is taking place all over the school!
Mike Zimmer, the principle, stated that, “due to the continued growth in the Valley, Pleasant Valley High School needed more space to welcome new students coming from all over.” The school keeps growing each year; Pleasant Valley needed more space to fit everyone.
Construction first started in the senior lot. It all begun during spring break of 2017. Students came back from their break and realized process that will last a year and a half had started. Everything will be done by Fall of 2018-2019 school year.
There are many major areas students have been asked to avoid due to construction. The senior parking lot will be completely transformed. A new gymnasium will be built in replace of the parking lot. Zimmer explained that “It will be a 3 story building containing 10 class rooms”.
Students were concerned that the building will take up the entire parking lot and so they won’t find a place to park anymore. However, as the new tower and gym will be built on the current senior parking lot, more parking will be added onto the new parking lot in the southeast corner of the High School.
Students are very excited and can’t wait until next year to see it. Srineha Gurrem, a senior at Pleasant Valley said, “All these new additions are exciting and even though I’m a senior, I hope to come back and visit someday to see how it all turned out to be”.
