Twenty nine days! There are only 29 days until the first school dance! PVHS is hosting the 2016 Homecoming dance on October 1st. Kathryn Buchter, the head of Social Committee, gave some insight into what the theme for this year’s dance is. Buchter said, “The theme for this year’s dance is ‘Enchanted Forest!’ It is going to be a great dance!” Buchter also informed that the dance starts at 8:30 P.M. and ends at 11:00 P.M.
Homecoming can be a stressful time for students as they try to find a date, a dress, the perfect tie, a group, and a location for pictures and dinner. According to Brynn Hancock, a senior at PVHS, “the most stressful part of homecoming is planning where to go for dinner and pictures with a large group. It can be hard for people to agree!” Hancock is not the only student who feels this way about homecoming. The best advice: breathe! Homecoming should be a fun and stress-free event.
Ladies, it is totally okay to not get your hair or makeup done at a salon. Odds are, someone you know will be able to help you out with that! And don’t fret about being asked! You can always go with friends or plan your date ahead of time. Also, pick a dress that suits you best! Don’t worry about the trends or not fitting in; find a dress that you love and feel confident in. You’ll totally rock it! Gentlemen, there is no need to be nervous about asking someone to the dance. They’ll be flattered you asked, and it never hurts to plan ahead. When it comes to asking your date, get creative! Think outside of the box and have some fun with it. Don’t forget to plan your outfit to match your date!
At the end of the day, homecoming is supposed to be a fun night! Try not to stress about everything being perfect — it will all fall into place. Don’t be afraid to get down on the dance floor. Just have fun! It’s a judgement-free zone. Darren Erickson, Assistant Principal at PVHS, says, “Homecoming tends to be a pretty classy dance, and it’s nice to see everyone dancing and having fun in an appropriate way!”

Thank you for the tips! This will be my very first homecoming and I didn’t really know what to expect or how to plan, but now things are a bit more clear to me.

this made me all the more excited & less nervous for my last homecoming! it’s definitely true about how the salon thing and having everything professionally done isn’t totally necessary! can’t wait for October 1st <3
