Spencer Clark, a PVHS junior, is greatly involved in the fine arts program, consisting of band, choir, and drama. With Clark being a well-rounded, involved individual, he has been surrounded by his musical peers, encouraging him to work hard in the competitive atmosphere of the fine arts program. Gladly, Clark’s hard work is taking him in the right direction, as he’s currently the main role in PV’s upcoming musical, The Drowsy Chaperone.
1) How long have you been singing?
I’ve been singing in school choir since 7th grade.
2) Biggest accomplishment?
My biggest theatrical accomplishment has been getting the role of Man In Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone this year. It’s the largest role with the most acting range I’ve ever had. It’s definitely been a challenge, but I’m having a lot of fun!
3) How are you involved in the drama department?
I’m only able to do the musical every year. I’d love to do more, but the high school swim season interferes with the other shows.
4) Do you want to pursue choir or theatre as a career in the future?
I do not plan on pursuing theatre or choir as a career, but I’d like to continue both as hobbies.
5) Who inspires you to continue your involvement in the arts?
My mom inspires me to continue my involvement in the arts. I have grown up watching her perform onstage and now she supports all of my acting and musical passions.
6) What instrument(s) do you play?
I play the piano and the trumpet.
7) Are you involved in any activities outside of the arts?
I swim for both the PVHS swim team and the Piranhas Swim Club.
8) What’s your favorite role you’ve played?
My favorite roles have been Aladdin in Aladdin Jr, a member of the ensemble in Sweeney Todd, and Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone.
9) Words of advice to aspiring musicians/actors?
Just go for it! Music and theater are both great experiences, and everyone should give them a try!
