Select Button is a beyond talented improv group here at Pleasant Valley. The team consists of seniors Maaz Ahmed, Sam Lindhoff, Ali Rizvi and Keshav Wagle. For the past two years, Select Button has received third place at Thespian Festival. This year, the gifted group is continuing to work hard, and determined to reach bigger and better goals.
1) How did your improv group start?
We started by sitting around thinking, “Hey, this is fun. Let’s do it.”
2) Why are you guys called Select Button?
We had an incident our second year in existence where we were in between names and Mr. Myatt forgot we existed. It reminded us of the select button on a video game control, so we rolled with it.
3) Biggest accomplishment?
Getting third at Iowa Thesfest two years in a row.
4) Favorite part of improv?
The amount of camaraderie found in each team and how awesome it is to create an entire story on the spot.
5) Who did you all gain inspiration from?
Inspired by Dunbar, Liz Coin, Michael Tilka, and Rishi Wagle.
6) When is Select Button competing next?
Thespian Festival (November 10th-11th)
7) Words of advice for those wanting to get involved in the drama department?
Just do it! Hop in whenever! We’ll find a spot for you somewhere!
