Chapter 43: Eric Clifton

Being a multi sport athlete can be overwhelming for some, but not for junior Eric Clifton. Along with participating in the schools ultimate frisbee club, Clifton is a member of both the football and baseball teams. In fact, Clifton said some of his favorite memories have been from his high school baseball seasons. “My favorite memory from school was during baseball season,” Clifton continued, “We were going to Omaha Nebraska and we called it Bromaha because it was just the bros going down to play some baseball.”

Clifton also mentioned his love for athletics as a whole. “ I would say that sports are my favorite thing because of the people. Some of my best friends have come from my sports teams.” The junior extends his love for sports outside of the school by coaching a children’s baseball team and passing along his knowledge of the sport to the community. He coaches the team for service learning hours but says it goes beyond just the hour requirements. “I have so much fun doing it,” said Clifton.

Outside of his busy athletic schedule both inside and outside of the school, Clifton enjoys playing video games and hanging out with friends. He also enjoys attending PV and said that the people at the school are his favorite part of PV. Out of all of his classes, Clifton said he most enjoys ASL- American Sign Language. “It’s fun and Evan Terrones is such a good teacher. I really enjoy learning the language,” Clifton commented. Although Clifton is undecided as to what path he wants to take for college, he does know that he wants to be able to continue to play baseball for as long as possible. He hopes to figure out in the next few years what he will want to pursue in terms of a career. Regardless of what he decides to do, Clifton will make Pleasant Valley proud with his positive attitude and focus on others.
