Boys district golf is in full “swing” this year at PVHS. The boys have played in nine meets and still have about three to go, depending on how they continue to play. The boys also participate in many tournaments and on average rank third or fourth in them.
The boys have been off to a rough start according to senior Michael Showers. He said, “Despite some of the underwhelming performances we have had, many different players play good rounds of golf. Everyone is capable of shooting low scores; we just need to be able to do it as a team.” The team isn’t giving up, though.
Logan Thornburg, senior, said, “The season has been going alright this year. We haven’t played our 100% best, but we are coming together as a team just in time to qualify for State.” The boys practice hard every weekday and alternate between practicing at Palmer Hill Golf Course or Pebble Creek.
The boys work very hard, but they also have a lot of fun together as a team. Ryan Brohm, senior, stated, “I’m looking forward to qualifying for State with my team and just having fun in the last few weeks of my high school golf career.”
The team has one main goal to accomplish this season: make it to state. The team said they must get top three at districts in order to qualify this year. They have some tough teams in their lineup, but the boys know their goal is not out of reach. Keep swinging, boys!
