The Vice Presidential debate, featuring running mates Senator Tim Kaine and Governor Mike Pence for the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively, took place Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Longwood University. The debate was moderated by Elaine Quijano from CBS News. Social media and online polls resoundingly confirm that Governor Pence won with flying colors.
Senator Kaine immediately began the debate by interrupting and talking over Governor Pence. Kaine spoke fast and attacked Donald Trump with every answer. Governor Pence, on the other hand, spoke calmly, slowly, and only attacked Clinton after responding to a question. The main response from social media was that Governor Pence made a really good case for Pence 2020. Yet, Pence helped the Trump campaign a lot with this debate.
While many believe the debate was not of great quality or quantity of ideas, this and further presidential debates are immensely important to the future of our country. All voters are recommended to participate in learning the policies and values of the potential candidates. In order to keep this country running smoothly, more informed voters are needed.
