This year everything is different because of COVID-19. Mother’s Day is May 10th and we aren’t able to go shopping for our moms or take her out to eat on her special day. Here are some simple ways you can make your mom feel special this Mother’s day while staying home.

  1. Bake something special

Many areas have closures but the grocery stores are still open! Stop in and buy ingredients for your mom’s favorite dessert. Making something at home leaves a lasting impact and is a great way to celebrate your mom.

 2. Get her flowers

Showing your mom your appreciation for all she does, doesn’t have to be expensive. It can be as simple as picking flowers from your backyard to taking a quick trip to the store. Flowers are a great way to show your mom your appreciation.

3. Clean the house

Take the load off your mom this Mother’s Day and tidy up. It’s an easy gesture that goes a long way to give your mom a special day. Mother’s love to clean a house and straightening up this year could be just what she needs this Mother’s day.

4. Paint her nails

Nail salons have been closed for weeks now and if your mom is a regular, giving her the spa treatment will help her celebrate right this year. Treat your mom to a special day this May 10th.

5. Make a card

It’s easy to go to the store and pick up a card but this year with the extra time in quarantine, make your mom a card from scratch. Handmade gifts hold more sentimental value, especially to mothers. They show you care and spent time trying to make her day special.

6. Cook dinner or brunch

Mother’s day is usually a day when many of us take our moms out to eat. This year in quarantine, make your mom her favorite meal. Whether that be a special brunch or a delicious dinner. Spend some time making her a meal she won’t forget.

7. Set up a Zoom call with family

We are all going a little stir crazy this year and are missing our family outside of who we live with. Contact your relatives and surprise your mom with a Zoom call to your family you usually celebrate with. This will put a smile on her face.

8. Host a drive-by

It’s time to call up your friends and family, this year with social distancing a great way to show someone you care is hosting a drive-by parade. This allows you to see your family while staying safe. Host your mom a drive-by parade this Mother’s day for a sure surprise.

9.  Take an online class together

One of the best gifts we can give is the gift of quality time. This year find an online class to take with your mom. Whether that be a workout or art class, take a break from Netflix and spend some quality time with your mom this Mother’s day.

10. Plan a picnic

With the weather getting nicer and outdoors seeming to be the only thing to do, planning a picnic for your mom is a special way to spend Mother’s Day.
