Although most games are blocked, there are still many games that can be played on a school-issued Chromebook. Students can be seen playing these games during class, usually during free time. Here are some of the best games to play on a Pleasant Valley issued Chromebook.

  1. Build Your Stax

This is a popular game among the business classes at Pleasant Valley. It is an educational but fun game about investing. The game simulates the growth of a player’s money over the course of 20 years, based on their investment habits. As the years progress, the player unlocks more investing options.

  1. Run

Run is a classic game popularized on Cool Math Games. In this game, players play as an alien-like creature running through space. This creature is constantly running through a never ending box with holes. The objective is to not fall in one of these holes, which can be avoided by wall jumping in order to change the side of the box the player is on. Although Run is a fun game, students can tire of it quickly and often switch to a new game temporarily.

  1. 60 Second Santa Run

This game is also popularized by Cool Math Games. The player takes on the role of santa. The objective is to get through a series of obstacles in 60 seconds in order to deliver every kid’s presents in time. This game is very fun and challenging but most players lose interest once they have finally won.

  1. Minesweeper

Minesweeper is a Google game that can be played by simply typing “Minesweeper” into the browser. The objective of the game is to mark the location of all mines and uncover the safe tiles of land. Players will see that some tiles are numbered, indicating how many mines the tile is touching. If you mistakenly uncover a mine, the game is over. This game can be quite addicting when played right. Unfortunately, not many people truly know how to play it nor care to learn.

  1. Slope

Slope is a game found on many different platforms across the internet. In the game Slope, the player will play as a ball rolling down a slope filled with obstacles. The player’s score is relative to how long the player goes without hitting an obstacle or sliding off the side of the slope. Slope is a very popular game on Chromebooks, and its popularity only seems to grow by the day.

  1. Pac-Man

Pac-Man has always been a popular game, but it is also popular among students at Pleasant Valley. This is a Google issued game accessed by simply typing “Pac-Man” into a google browser. In this game the player plays as Pac-Man with the goal of consuming all the food in a labyrinth. Meanwhile, the player must also avoid running into the ghosts which will kill Pac-Man. Fortunately, the player can eat power-ups that allow Pac-Man to consume and temporarily disarm the ghosts for an allotted period of time.  Once the player’s three lives are up, the game is over. Pac-Man is a game that many have played in their childhood which explains why many kids in Pleasant Valley enjoy playing it on their Chromebooks.

  1. Snake

Snake is by far the most popular game played by Pleasant Valley students. It is a pretty simplistic game yet seems to draw in a large amount of players. For this game the student must play as a snake that slithers in a box, trying to consume apples without running into the confines of the box or the snake they play as. This game seems to be very addicting among Pleasant Valley students because it also allows players to customize how they play. They can change snake color, fruit, map size, game mode, and much more.

The fact that snake is so simple but is probably the most common game that people would play is very interesting.
