Although Pleasant Valley has excellent teachers, students can also learn their class content online. Maybe there is an upcoming test and students need a key concept re-explained to them. These online resources can help students who need to review, practice or dive deeper into their class content. Without further ado, here are the top five online tools to use to understand your class content.

  1. Quizlet

Quizlet is a popular tool used by both teachers and students. It is primarily used for studying terms and definitions. Teachers will often create a set of flashcards on Quizlet for their students to review for an upcoming test. Quizlet allows for students to make their own flashcards or utilize a set that has already been made. Along with flashcards, Quizlet has mock tests, writing practice and reading practice.

  1. PhET Interactive Simulations

PhET Interactive Simulations is a project from the University of Colorado Boulder with over a hundred interactive simulations built for learning. PhET has free online physics, chemistry, biology, earth science and math simulations. This is a great resource because it provides many visuals and real world applications of whatever a student is learning.

  1. BrainPOP

BrainPOP is a fun, animated educational tool used to teach students grades three to twelve. BrainPOP covers a variety of subjects, including science, social studies, english, math, engineering & tech, health and arts & music. This organization teaches by using animated videos, quizzes, learning games and more.

  1. The Organic Chemistry Tutor

The Organic Chemistry Tutor is a channel on Youtube that covers topics related to organic chemistry, general chemistry, physics, algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus and SAT math. The channel is run by Julio Gonzales, a former tutor with a Bachelor’s degree at the University of California. His videos have a very similar style to the video lessons found on Khan Academy.

  1. Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a popular online organization with a huge selection of subjects for students to learn. Khan Academy covers classes in the fields of math, science, reading and language arts, computer science and more. Additionally, they offer test prep for tests like the SAT. Khan Academy even has content covering Advanced Placement courses. This organization offers thousands of lesson videos, often taught by Sal Khan, the founder and CEO of Khan Academy.

All five of these resources are excellent ways to learn, review and practice learning objectives in school. However, it is important to note the effectiveness of each tool will vary depending on the information a particular student wants to learn. Happy learning!

Very interesting list! I woulda also add TedEd talks, they are a very useful resource that teach a lot of different topics. I have also found that Crash Course is a great series to help teach a bunch of topics, such as history or chemistry.
