8:08 p.m. may be a random time for some, but for others, it is the time high schoolers gather to be a part of Young Life. The Young Life Quad Cities described, “We like to think of it as a party with a purpose. It’s controlled chaos that’s almost impossible to describe, but kids know it when they see it. And before the party ends, we share a simple message about God’s love for them. After all, that’s what the celebration is all about.” PV students are actively involved in Young Life each week.
Haley Germain, junior, said, “Young Life is a place for everyone. It’s a Christian based organization that accepts anyone. Young Life takes place at the Bettendorf YMCA and other times it is at people’s houses.” Many students enjoy their time at Young life each week. Germain said, “I enjoy going because even though I didn’t have a relationship with God at the beginning, it’s a place where I can go to be myself and socialize with others. It’s not about long bible studies and history no one understands, it’s about having fun and just learning about the love of God.”
The Young Life Quad Cities website said, “We believe that one of the most valuable things you can do with your time is be involved in Young Life, where you can have fun, be yourself, and learn about your life and how God plays a part. Young Life gives you plenty of opportunities to have an amazing time with your friends at club.” Sam Harrison, senior, said, “Young Life is a place where you can work on being yourself and have fun doing it, we may not be your blood family, but we sure will act like it.” Each week, students gather to enjoy their time together and they encourage anyone who is interested to come and be a part of Young Life.
