For a while now, North Korea has been threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear missiles. Now, the threat is very much confirmed. Thae Yong Ho, a deputy ambassador to the U.K., defected from North Korea. Ho, the highest ranking defector from North Korea for a long time, warned about the seriousness of the situation.

Ho said, “Once Kim sees that there is any kind of sign of a tank or an imminent threat from America, the NHE would use his nuclear weapons.” Ho claimed Kim Jong Un would go to desperate measures to maintain his rule.

Michael Meyer, senior, said, “Everybody knows that they are crazy, but this just shows how crazy Kim is. Somebody needs to do something about him.”

North Korea recently did a missile test, which is believed to be a show of power before the meeting between President Trump and China’s president, Xi Jinping. The meeting between the two leaders will take place in Mar-A-Lago, Florida, where they will be discussing what they want to do with North Korea. Cam Peer, senior, said, “It would be great if we could get China on our side to help stop Kim Jong Un from dropping nukes.” Trump has been putting pressure on China to aid the U.S. in stopping them from harming the world. China is a strong country and is located in a key location to help deter military action.

Trump did say, however, “If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will.”
The Trump administration has said that North Korea has been given plenty of chances to open negotiations and to end hostilities. Four different administrations have tried to get them to talk, but no progress has been made. The Trump administration stated, “North Korea’s time is up.”
