Trump protests become violent

Ever since Donald Trump was elected to be the 45th president of the United States on November 8, 2016, people have been protesting. People are continuing to protest today for multiple reasons. They are in opposition to Trump’s campaign ideas and the things he is currently doing in the White House. The protests are not just happening in the United States either; they are occurring all over the world. With President Trump having one of the worst approval ratings any president has had after just a few months, these protest seem like they will persist.

Recently, people have been protesting in over 150 cities in the United States for Trump to release his tax returns, BBC news reported. The protests occurred on April 15, 2017, also known as National Tax Day to many people. Some people even went as far as saying they won’t pay their federal income tax until Trump releases his taxes, said The Guardian News. Brad Melvin, junior, said, “I agree with the protesters that Trump should release his taxes to the public, but I believe it is too far not to pay your taxes because of it.” These protesters who refuse to pay their taxes will have to face consequences.

Another recent incident between Trump supporters and protesters occurred in Berkeley, California on April 15, 2017. At least 21 people were arrested in an event which had to be stopped by the police. There were 11 people injured in the event, and seven people had to be transported to the hospital because of the riot. The University of California Berkeley said, “More than $100,000 in damage was done.” To stop the fight, the university’s police department said, “We had to throw fireworks into the crowd, and we used pepper spray to try to disperse the crowd.”
