Attention class of 2017

As of May 1, the class of 2017 has 17 days left in the long four year journey that has been their high school career. As summed up perfectly by Hadden Henderson, senior, “It’s about time we get out of this place; it’s been a long four years.” The seniors have been counting the days and, in some cases, the hours through each day. The light at the end of it all rests on Sunday, May 28, 2017, when the class of 2017 will officially kick the can and leave the valley in route for their next adventure. Before the seniors can leave the clutches of PV, however, there are a few requirements to remember.

First, they must complete their service learning. Between junior and senior year at Pleasant Valley, students are required to finish 40 hours of service learning to the community. This figure is required by administration and is one of the largest roadblocks in the way for graduation and Prom, which is on May 6 this year. If a senior does not have these hours completed, administration would ask one to visit Mrs. Jepsen immediately to clear up any mishaps or find some way to scrap together 40 hours so they can receive that diploma.

Secondly, they cannot have any detentions that have not been served or fees that haven’t been paid. This is possibly the largest problem for the class of 2017 because of the accumulating amount of laziness in the senior class. Some seniors, like Tony Marchiori, are too busy for such inconsequential actions, “They are a waste of my valuable time,” said Marchiori. In addition to the motivational issues in the class, the new parking situation at Pleasant Valley has brought around an increased number of fees and violations to the senior class. In order to go to Prom and to graduate, all seniors must have these cleared, no exceptions.

Seniors also need to have satisfied all the needed credits to graduate, so the class of 2017 needs to stay on top of their school work in their final days.
